I was a dog mom. Always have been.
But about six years ago, my daughter came home from high school with a tiny black and white kitten who seemed sweet, cuddly, and innocent.
Fast forward to 2026… my daughter is long gone at vet school, and I’m officially raising her cat like a full-time grandma.
And let me tell you… Milo and I have a very strong love/hate relationship.
He’s not one of those cuddly, affectionate cats you see on Instagram. I can pet him for about three seconds before he bolts like my touch is physically painful. If he wants attention, it’s usually by attacking my toes like they owe him money.
But somehow… I love him.
Even when I wake up, and he’s sitting there staring at me like a tiny furry serial killer.
So over the years I’ve learned to let Milo do his thing… and I’ve also learned one very important truth:
A happy cat is a happy grandma.

#5 Purina Tidy Cats Cat Litter Box System
This is our third litter box system and it is hands down the best one we’ve tried. The biggest difference? Milo is barely tracking litter all over my apartment anymore. Maybe a pellet here and there, but that’s it.
It’s also way easier to clean (quick spray and wipe) and, even though I still scoop every day, I only have to change the absorbent pad about once a week… sometimes longer.
And the best part? Zero smell. Like none. Which is honestly a miracle.

**Quick Note
At one point, I tried to save a little money and ordered a giant box of “other” absorbent litter box pads… and let me just say: NO BUENO.
They didn’t hold nearly as much liquid, didn’t control the smell at all, and I ended up tossing the whole box. Lesson learned! Sometimes the off-brand shortcut is NOT worth it.
